China Shipping bulletins on May 8,2019

1.SS Teo’s Singamas Container Holdings has entered into an agreement to sell four of its container manufacturing units in China to Cosco Shipping Financial Holdings for a total price of RMB3.8bn ($562m), following on from the announcement of a potential deal in March.

 

2.Representatives of the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the port Authority of Guangzhou, met in the Chinese port to establish their partnership agreement through a signing ceremony, on Tuesday, May 7.

 

3.China’s iron ore futures rose more than 4 percent on Tuesday, stoked by concerns over tight supply as Vale halted resuming operations at its Brucutu iron ore mining complex.

 

4.As the Britannia P&I Club informs, Intertanko has recently received a number of reports from its members regarding uncharted terminals in Chinese ports after a request for feedback. The association has called the Chinese authorities to mitigate the issue.

 

5.Chinese oil company CNOOC Ltd wants to expand in Brazil and is considering bidding in an auction of offshore exploration blocs in the pre-salt area set for later this year, the head of the firm's Brazilian unit said on May 7.

7.China's crude oil futures settled higher on Tuesday.The most active contract for June 2019 delivery gained 2.86 percent to 485.2 yuan per barrel, data from the Shanghai International Energy Exchange showed. 

 

8.China's foreign trade of goods climbed 4.3% year-on-year in the first four months of this year to 9.51 trillion yuan, customs data showed Wednesday.Exports increased by 5.7% year-on-year to 5.06 trillion yuan during this period, while imports went up by 2.9% to 4.45 trillion yuan, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said.
