China Shipping bulletins on May 1,2019

1.Chinese shipbuilder DSIC will convert an existing VLCC on order with Cosco Shipping into a vessel equipped with a propelling system that can burn both fuel oil and LNG. It is also mulling a foray into LNG carrier newbuilding markets at the end of 2019.

2.Belgian shipowner Exmar has ordered a pair of LPG-fuelled 86,000 cu m LPG carriers from China’s Jiangnan Shipyard.The vessels are scheduled for delivery within the second and third quarters of 2021.

3.China has inked a $3.4bn deal with the United Arab Emirates to expand its trading and warehouse investment in Dubai.

4.As the US tightens restrictions on Iranian oil exports, crude is increasingly moving through a complex logistics chain of ship-to-ship transfers before it arrive in Chinese ports.

5.Ningbo Maritime Court has issued a notice that it will hold an auction to sell the 2012-built product tanker Chao Sheng 8 on June 17 via online platform Taobao.The vessel is currently detained by the court at the request of the creditors of Chaosheng Shipping.

6.Greece is a bridge and not a border between the West and the East and as a regional hub for growth that is gaining global influence and significance, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told the Belt and Road Initiative Forum in Beijing 26 April.
