China Shipping bulletins on Apr 15,2019


1.One of Hong Kong’s oldest shipping companies, Valles Steamship, is exiting the bulker segment, laying all its money into tankers.
 
2.WAN Hai Lines intends to strengthen its intra-Asia container shipping network by launching a new weekly China Philippines Express service (CPX) that will be operated by two 1,200 TEU ships, starting from April 20.
 
3.Chinese state oil giant is close to signing a contract with Hambantota International Port Group, part of China Merchants Port, to run the tank facilities and trade fuel oils at the Sri Lanka port.
 
4.Chinese shipyard Zhoushan IMC-Yongyue Shipyard and Engineering is moving into the Brazilian ship repair market,and will manage the green ship repair facility for BBDC.
 
5.The minor bulk market took a sharp dip as 2019 opened. And there are further hits to be absorbed during the remainder of the year, Hong Kong’s leading player, Pacific Basin said during its first quarter update.

7.Taiwanese bulker owner Taiwan Navigation continues to optimise its fleet, having signed newbuilding contracts with Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding for the construction of two 81,600 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers.Delivery of the two ships are expected in 2022 and the total price is $66.22m.
 
8.China's iron ore imports rose in March after touching a 10-month-low in February, customs data showed, with steel mills replenishing their inventory as winter production restrictions started to end.
