Senior Wallem management – not part of new vision

Two senior managers at Hong Kong’s Wallem Group were shown the door on Friday (22 November). David Price, managing director of the ship management division, and director of Sales and Marketing Nigel Moore have left the company at the behest of recently appointed chief executive Frank Coles.

In a note to clients issued on Friday, Mr Coles announced: “The changes we are announcing today will be implemented immediately. They are fundamental for the next phase of the Wallem Group’s transformation in support of our vision. The Wallem vision is to be the leading provider of technology driven maritime solutions in a customer centric and transparent manner. Alongside the management and structure changes is a focused structured digitalisation transformation of the business.”

It was also revealed that Johan Gustafsson, who followed Mr Coles from Transas to Wallem in January of this year, has been appointed group chief operating officer.

It is believed that Mr Coles will adopt the ship management role in addition to his current duties until a suitable replacement is found.

Meanwhile, in Wallem’s European office in Hamburg, Lee Whiteoak has been appointed group head of safety and compliance.

Group communications manager Kristen Beattie, left Wallem Group in early February 2019.
