The organisers of Lloyd’s List Global Awards, to be held in London on 11 December, have released their shortlist of finalists. Hong Kong companies are featured highly with some star performers achieving multiple entries across a number of categories.
In the running for Company of the Year are Hong Kong-listed China Merchants Port Holdings, Fleet Management and, OOCL.
OOCL is also shortlisted for Containership Operator of the Year. CMPH makes a second appearance in the Deal of the Year category, while Fleet Management gets a second chance as Dry Bulk Operator of the Year, alongside Pacific Basin Shipping.
Both OOCL and Pacific Basin are in the running for this year’s Environment Award – Individual Company. HFW, Reed Smith, and Stephenson Harwood, all international law firms with a significant presence in Hong Kong have joined a list of frontrunners for the i-law Maritime Law Award.
CMPH gets a third outing as a finalist for the Port Operator Award and Fleet Management makes it three under the Safety Award. Another hat-trick is in the offing with OOCL’s entry under the China Merchants Port Holdings Innovation Award.
Hong Kong’s Wallem Group also features this year as a finalist for the Training Award.
In August this year, Lloyd’s List Asia Pacific Awards announced its short list of finalists with 13 entries from Hong Kong across all categories. In the event only Pacific Basin and Kerry Logistics came home with the goods.
The most esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award went to the highly deserving Tan Sri Frank Tsao Wen King whose extraordinary influence for the better has touched many countries in the region. Perhaps Hong Kong can claim part of the award given the work he was famous for in the territory.
Here’s hoping for a better result in London.
