Ferry services on the Qiongzhou Strait between Guangdong and Hainan provinces in south China have resumed since Wednesday afternoon as the Typhoon Son-Tinh waned, local authorities said.
Many stranded passengers and vehicles were seen waiting for boarding at Hai'an New Port in Zhanjiang City of Guangdong as the ferry service was resumed at 16:00 Wednesday after 24 hours of suspension.
The typhoon, the ninth this year, landed at around 04:50 Wednesday in Hainan's Wanning City, bringing downpours and strong gales to both provinces.
