Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao in Beijing on Thursday.
Li said during the meeting that a stable and healthy China-U.S. relationship is in the interests of the two sides, and that it is also the expectation of the international community.
As President Xi Jinping has met many times and had many telephone conversations with President Donald Trump, the two sides should follow the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, have a correct view of the China-U.S. relations and respect each other, pursue consultation on an equal footing, expand consensus and manage disputes to push forward the development of the bilateral relations, Li said.
The nature of China-U.S. trade and economic cooperation features mutually-beneficial and win-win results, Li said, adding that there is no winner in trade dispute, and that dialog and negotiation is the only way out.
China attaches importance to the U.S. side's desire to resolve trade frictions through dialog and communication, and the door for China’s negotiations is wide open, the Premier said.
China is also willing to work with the U.S. side to promote pragmatic cooperation in transportation, including autonomous driving and other sectors, Li said.
For her part, Chao congratulated China on its keeping the economic growth at 6.8 percent. She said the China-U.S. relations are developing at an important period and that she hopes trade negotiations between the two sides will achieve positive results.
Chao said she is looking forward to strengthening practical cooperation in various areas with China.
