Chinese newcomer mini-cape fleet owner: Tianyuan Logistics

On Jan 3rd 2018, Qingdao, The press conference of Tianyuan Logistics first vessel arrive at Qingdao port. (Charted from Oldendorff and transport manganese ore from Ghana to Qingdao port).



Liu jun, the President of Tianyuan Logistics Group told to xinde marine news, “Ningxia Tianyuan Logistics Group is the subsidiary of Ningxia Tianyuan Manganese Industry Group, it has a professional shipping team and a strong road and rail logistics system. It is an important part of Tianyuan Manganese Group's mining, trade, finance and smelting industries and helps to achieve the group's "Go Out" strategy. The group plans to construct 30 of 120,000-ton mini capsize bulk carriers to build a large-scale, modern, green, smart and efficient bulk carrier fleet.”



In fact, regarding to the 118,000 mini-cape’s design and building scheme, Tianyuan Logistics already make rounds of research and negotiation with CSSC-SDARI in last year. And in the end, the first 10 vessels will adopt SDARI’s designing scheme.



On March 28th, the Tianyuan Logistics and CSIC Officals make further negotiations regarding to the first 10 vessels construction, one shipping source said. Most predict that the CSIC, the state-owned northern shipbuilding group, will get the order from Tianyuan and split the order to the subsidiary shipyards. The number of vessels each yard will construct has not been disclosed. However, Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry, Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry are expected to be involved.

Ningxia Tianyuan Manganese Industry Group is the world's largest electrolytic manganese supplier. In 2016, Tianyuan acquired the entire assets of Australia miner Consolidated Minerals and in September the company invested $30m to develop the Udiudi mine in Pilbara, Western Australia.
It has also reached investment deals to develop mining and ports in Ghana. In last month Tianyuan Logistics took first team of Ghana tugboat captains and pilots to  be trained in Shanghai and Zhoushan of China .
