The International Transport Workers' Federation Visits China


 
At the invitation of All-China Federation of Labor, Lucca Thomas, project manager of Seafarers Trust Foundation of ITF, recently visited Shandong China to conduct an on-the-spot inspection of the International Seafarers' Club.
 


Professor Minghua Zhao, Maritime sociologist from Southampton Solent University said, “This trip to Yantai and Qingdao is very rewarding. Under the promotion of Maritime Labour Convention,2006, seafarers from all countries that comes to China’s ports can get help and benefits.”
 


The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is an international federation of transport workers' trade unions. The ITF's headquarters is in London.
 
Around 670 unions representing over 19 million transport workers from some 147 countries are members of the ITF. It is one of several global unions federation unions allied with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
 
ITF involves shipping, aviation, railways, highways, docks, tourism and other industries. As for seafarers, ITF works to ensure safe vessels and decent working conditions for them and aims to raise standards, protect the vulnerable and eradicate exploitation.
