Wind farms and solar plants operated by State Grid Corporation of China generated a total 333.3 TWh of electricity in 2017, rising 39.8% from the preceding year, said the country's top grid operator.
China's wind power output totaled 269.5 TWh during the whole year of 2017, rising 21.4% year on year; that of solar power at 64.8 TWh, climbing 38% from the preceding year, showed the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
Installed wind and solar capacity reached 240 GW by the end of 2017, the State Grid Copr. said, adding the idling of power volumes and rates both declined in the year.
To give full of such new energy sources, Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang cancelled their generation plans for thermal power in 2017, while annual power output plan was reduced by 95 TWh in Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other provinces.
