Hudong-Zhonghua wins order for three more LNG carriers from QatarEnergy

State-owned oil and gas company QatarEnergy has signed another long-term charter contract with a subsidiary of Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) for three newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The contract includes three LNG carriers to be built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2027.

With the latest deal, MOL and QatarEnergy expand their existing relationship, building on the long-term charter contract signed in April this year.

QatarEnergy is undertaking the North Field Expansion Project to increase its LNG production capacity to 126 million tons per annum by 2027.

Most recently, the company awarded long-term charter contracts to Malaysian energy logistics group MISC Berhad and its consortium partners for five newbuild LNG carriers, in addition to previously awarded seven long-term deals.
