China's port first realize 400,000 DWT VLOC connected shore power during docking

On August 30, the world's largest 400,000 DWT VLOC "MINGQING" docked in Dongjiakou Port of Qingdao Port in Shandong Province connected to shore power, marking that China's port is the first in the world to realize the full application of shore power of 400,000 DWT VLOC.

For a long time, the 400,000 DWT vessel can only use the ship fuel oil power supply after docking, instead of using clean shore power energy, due to problems such as ship-shore power supply parameter mismatch and load inconsistency.

A 400,000 DWT vessel using shore power during docking can reduce fuel consumption by about 12 tons, carbon dioxide emissions by about 37.4 tons, and sulfur oxide emissions by about 0.1 ton. With the application of shore power technology for 400,000 DWT vessels, China's ports can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 5,500 tons and sulfur oxide emissions by about 15 tons per year.

Application of shore power technology, to China construction "green port", to realize the ship during the port "zero emission, zero pollution, zero noise", promote low carbon transportation system construction, help to reach the peak carbon and carbon neutrality goal as scheduled, is of great significance.
