China Shipping bulletins on September 27,2019


1.MOL announced that on 24 September, a naming ceremony for a conventional LNG carrier, jointly ordered by MOL and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, was held at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd.

2.News has been circulating lately about a potential ban on coal imports in China. Last year the Chinese Government imposed restrictions on coal imports in Q4 and seaborne volumes halved during November and December as a result.

3.Rising demand for high-end river cruises from Chinese travelers will be the mainstay and account for 7 to 8 percent of the total cruising business of US-based cruising firm Viking Cruises by 2020, a top company official said on Tuesday.

4.The Hong Kong Trade Development Council has forecast that the city's exports this year would suffer their largest decline in a decade due to the impact of the ongoing trade war between China and the United States.

5.Saudi Aramco has boosted total production capacity to more than 11mbpd, according to people with knowledge of the situation. 
 
6.“There will be a huge amount of middle distillates used in the shipping sector starting 2020 with an incremental demand of 1.2mbpd for MGO,” according to WoodMac. 

7.Chinese iron ore futures climbed more than 2% on September 26, despite little trading in the physical market ahead of the country's National Day celebrations, as hints of progress in the U.S.-China trade deal negotiations lifted investor sentiment.
