Smart marine aquaculture platform put into operation

China's smart cultivation platform "Zhenyu No.1" was officially put into operation in the waters of Lianjiang County, east China's Fujian Province on Saturday, in a bid to expand marine aquaculture industry.

Monitoring the whole platform becomes easier with help of digital technology. Simply through an app, farmers can receive data including PH value, salinity and dissolved oxygen.

The cultivation platform mainly consists of floating structure, cultivation structure and rotating mechanism, with a total length of 60 meters, width of 30 meters, and volume of 13,000 cubic meters. It is estimated to produce 120 tons of high-quality commercial sea fishes per year.

To solve problems of limited space for cultivation and poor capacity against storms and waves, the platform was forged with steel structure, up to the ship standard, which can extend cultivation area to deep sea and remote sea.

In addition, the platform is equipped with patented automatically rotating devices that are able to help get rid of things which adhere to the surface from sea water.

"In this way, things adhering to the surface from sea water will be easily cleared by sun exposure and rain wash," said Dong Yi, deputy head of Oceanic and Fishery Bureau of Lianjiang County.
