China Shipping bulletins on Apr 22,2019


1.Cosco Shipping Bulk has inked a contract for eight 210,000 dwt bulk carriers newbuildings, plus options for two more with Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.
 
2.China will acquire more smart shipbuilding technologies, particularly in areas such as the development of new generation liquefied natural gas carriers, internet-connected and high-efficiency manufacturing in its shipyards between 2019 and 2021, senior officials said on Friday.
 
3.Rizhao port in Qingdao province has launched four new berths for crude oil, iron ore and bulk cargo operation.The four berths include one 300,000 tonnes-class or VLCC, crude oil berth at Lanshan port area, one 300,000 tonnes-class, or VLOC, iron ore berth, and two break bulk cargo berths at Lanqiao port.
 
4.Alphaliner, a shipping advisory service, recently released its annual "Top 120 Ports Worldwide in Container Throughput in 2018" list.Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is now listed third in the world for container throughput, up from fourth a year earlier.
 
5.China decided to restrict its coal imports in 2019 in less than 2018's levels. Drewry supports that this decision will dent demand for Panamaxes, but an ongoing tussle with Australia could be the silver lining.
 
6.China's steel and iron ore futures rose nearly 3% on April 22 after last week recording their worst weekly performance in several months, buoyed after Beijing said it would maintain policy support for the economy.
