China Shipping bulletins on November 19,2018


1.The third Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) from 18th to 24th November 2018 started yesterday at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.

2.Singapore's Sea Consortium is expanding its fleet with contracts for two Chinese newbuildings.Brokers said the company has ordered a pair of 2,700-teu ships for delivery in November 2020 and March 2021.

3.CMA CGM, A.P. Moller C Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, MSC and Ocean Network Express intend to create an association with the purpose of paving the way for digitalization, standardization and interoperability in the container shipping industry.

4.Japanese shipping giant Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) signed a charter contract with Chinas Unipec, the trading arm of state oil major Sinopec, for a 149,700-cbm LNG carrier.

5.Lung Teh (LT) Shipbuilding Company formally received construction permits for the site at Suao Port, according to Taiwanese government sources.The company will start construction in December and should finish all new facilities on its Suao Port campus in March 2020.

6.Natural gas is expected to overtake coal as the world's second largest energy source after oil by 2030 due to a drive to cut air pollution and the rise in liquefied natural gas (LNG) use, the International Energy Agency has said.

7.China's National Development and Reform Commission imposed further port restrictions on coking coal and thermal coal until the end of 2018 at ports across China, market sources said Thursday.

8.According to Awilco LNG, LNG trade is estimated to have increased by 6% in the first nine months of 2018 compared to 2017. What is more, China is now the worlds largest importer of gas, having surpassed Japan.
