China Shipping bulletins on October 16,2018


1.OOCL has no plans to employ marine scrubbers on its fleet of containerships.Instead it will use low sulphur fuel to meet the demands of the new IMO Sulphur cap regulation in January 2020,the company revealed in a release at the weekend.
 
2.A maritime rescue drill took place at Waigaoqiao, China on Friday, October 12, under the city’s maritime security preparations regarding the China International Import Expo.
 
3.The average China Export Containerized Freight Index stood at 853.97 points in September,up 2.9% from a month earlier,as the market was still in peak season, the exchange said in a statement.
 
4.China's crude oil futures settled higher on Monday.The main crude contract for December delivery was up 0.47 percent to 573.1 yuan per barrel,data from the Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE) showed. 
 
5.US tariffs to China have affected trade volumes,but not in a negative way.Namely,container traffic across the Pacific has increased,with container ships being full.This situation is possible that will not last,but exports from south Asia may continue their increasing trend.

7.China's foreign trade volume jumped 9.9 percent year-on-year to 22.28 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of this year, data from the General Administration of Customs show.
