1.Panama and China begin negotiations to sign a memorandum.The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Jorge Barakat Pitty,together with his management team,held a meeting with the Minister of Transport of PRC,Li Xiaopeng on August 8-11. 
 
2.BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's national observatory on Sunday issued a blue alert for typhoon Yagi which has strengthened ahead of its forecast landfall in the eastern coastal region.Yagi, this year's 14th typhoon, is expected to make landfall on the coast between Wenzhou and Xiangshan in Zhejiang Province as early as Sunday evening.
 
3.Modern Terminals Limited today announced its participation as a Network Member in TradeLens, jointly developed by A.P. Moller – Maersk and IBM to apply blockchain to the world’s global supply chain.
 
4.Oil prices continue downtrend amid trade tensions.China said on Wednesday it would retaliate against the latest round of US tariffs on Chinese imports.And the tariff hike will take effect on Aug 23.
 
5.Chinese research ship "Xiangyanghong 10" docks at Changzhi Island pier in Zhoushan of east China's Zhejiang Province,Aug.12,2018,after completing China's 49th ocean expedition. "Xiangyanghong 10" departed on Dec.6,2017,with scientists onboard set to explore polymetallic sulphide deposits in the southwest and northwest Indian Ocean.
 
6.COSCO Netherlands,a giant merchant vessel which is sailing on the Indian Ocean towards Greece and plans to finally reach Valencia,Spain on Aug. 31.And it is the first time for the multifunctional vessel, which is owned by China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, to take this route.
 
7.With steady export growth in China, container transport for export purposes gained momentum in July, according to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.The average China Export Containerized Freight Index stood at 820.31 points in July, up 2.1 percent from a month earlier.
 
8.Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd,the largest ship maker in Fujian province,has seen a remarkable growth in orders from overseas clients since China announced its Belt and Road Initiative.The company said it has received an order for 12 container vessels from Malaysian and German shipowners,two of which will be delivered by the end of this year.
