--‘Ship Market Trend’ English and Chinese version writing and donating processes.
In my 25-year shipping career life, I have worked in Shanghai, Korea, London, and Hong Kong. For the last ten years of my career, my main job is to predict the future of the shipping market movement. What factors will influence the shipping market, and how are they linked?  After finding all these interlinks of the data, I try to explain them to a few friends, and one of the friends made a joke of me, said: “JJ you need to write a book to explain.” This is where this book comes from. Luckily after visiting Clarksons and Baltic London office, they gave a great support to use their data for analysis and I really appreciate their support to fulfill my written.
On 31st March 2017, in the middle of my writing, MV STELLAR DAISY sank about 1,300 miles outside of Uruguay, took with her 22 crews lives. What caused this accident still is a mystery. Inspired by this fate, I am donating all proceeds from the sale of this book to the Sailors’ Society – the international maritime charity, which supports seafarers and their families across the world, celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2018.
Hong Kong book event
On January 30, 2018, the first book signing event was held at the Hong Kong Seafarers' Club. It was a memorial moment for the building.  The event has become the last official event being held at the Hong Kong Seafarers' Club, after this event, the building has been demolished for re-development.  Many media have reported this event or this book. The first publisher was Xinyi Maritime, then followed by Ocean Shipping, Shipping Network, Hong Kong Shipping Research Centre, Sino-European Commercial Cooperation, Sina Finance, Sohu Finance, Tradewind and Lloyd's List. These media reports fully revealed the value of this book and laid the foundation for the book's global tour.
Media reports
The first global tour was in New York, USA. Recommend by Columbia Ship Management Company, the Capital Link’s Conference on March 12th at New York became the book's first overseas charity sale; and then followed by Connecticut Shipbuilding Association’s annual conference, which is recommended by Sailors' Society; finally helped by LISCR, I made the book’s first trip to a university – the United States Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point, New York.
The USA book events
The success of the trip to the United States made a good foundation for the tour around the rest of the world and soon introduced the book to Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai Maritime University, Dalian Maritime University, and the Capital Link Chinese annual conference. The positive feedback from the Shanghai Maritime University EMBA students and the interaction from Dalian Maritime University professors strengthened my confidence in launching the Chinese version of the book.
Mainland China book events
Singapore's roadshows are concentrated on universities, including Singapore Nanyang Polytechnic University, Singapore Management University, and also at the Capital Link’s first Singapore conference.
Singapore book events
In June, with the help of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, the book came to the world's largest Maritime Exhibition Posidonia.

Greece book events
The UK exhibition in July was a great success of the global tour, starting with the charity sale held at Clarkson's London headquarters, then visiting the Sailor Society's headquarters in Southampton, and finally holding the charity sale at the Baltic Exchange and successfullylaunchingthe Chinese version of the book.
UK book events
This half-year global book tours have been a great journey. A total of 1,745 Chinese and English books were sold or donated and raised a total of 80,000 Hong Kong dollars. The buyers include shipowners, ship financing banks, ship leasing companies, cargo owners, charterers, ship law firms, classification societies, shipyards, ship design companies, ship research institutes, ship equipment manufacturers, ship agencies, ship parts suppliers, ship brokerage companies, ship exchange centers, ship consultants, etc.
All fundraising was donated towards Sailors Society, I would like to express my deep appreciation for your support. You can donate directly at this link:
