Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group visits PetroChina International (Middle East) and COSCO Shipping (West Asia)


On the morning of 10 August 2019, Mr Wang Hong, Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group, made a visit to PetroChina International (Middle East), to meet with Mr Huang Yongzhang, General Manager of PetroChina International (Middle East) and President of China Chamber of Commerce in the UAE, and Mr Wang Xinqiang, Chief Representative of China Oil (Middle East). And Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, Mr Xu Hui, Deputy General Manager of CMES and Mr Ding Lei, Vice President of CMES and General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah attended the meeting.
 
Mr Wang introduced the current status of China Merchants Group and explained China Merchant’s shipping and logistics business in detail. According to Mr Wang, China Merchants is in the midst of building a world-class enterprise with global competitiveness with important elements including the “Go Global” strategy, greater global investment and better management. Hence, he looks forward to further leveraging the complementary advantages of China Merchants and PetroChina with the aim to expand and enhance beneficial cooperation in shipping, logistics and port projects, etc.
 
Mr Xie described the cooperation between CMES and PetroChina on launching oil and gas transportation around the world. He hoped that both of them will strengthen multi-level exchanges in the Middle East, which amounts to seeking cooperation in oil transportation, low-sulfur oil supply, and natural gas transportation.
 
Mr Huang warmly welcomed Mr Wang and his entourage and congratulated China Merchants for its outstanding achievements in recent years. He outlined the progress of investment and mining of oil and gas by PetroChina in the Middle East, and the territory security and response in the region, the current status of Chinese enterprises in the UAE, etc. He then expressed his willingness to enhance cooperation with China Merchants in oil and gas transportation and logistics.
 
Mr Wang shared the current status and prospects regarding the cooperation between China Oil and China Merchants in the oil and gas transportation business. He indicated his hope to seek cooperation and support from the China Merchants Group in certain business projects, such as Fujairah Port Refuelling and Djibouti Project.
 
On the afternoon of 10 August, Mr Wang and his fellows also visited COSCO Shipping (West Asia) Co., Ltd. and had a business exchange with its General Manager, Mr Qiu Jinguang.
 
During his stay in Dubai, Mr Wang also listened to work reports prepared by Sinotrans Middle East and Dubai Office of Nanjing Tanker. Regarding their business development, he made a few remarks and proposed some guidelines.
